San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Responds to Vehicle Fire on Interstate 15 Near Carmel Mountain Ranch

San Diego – A vehicle fire occurred on Saturday near the Carmel Mountain Ranch neighborhood, prompting a swift response from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD). The department received notification of the blaze around 11:45 a.m., which involved a burning vehicle and a trailer in the southbound lane of Interstate 15, near Camino del Norte.

Twenty-five personnel from SDFD were dispatched to the scene, where they worked diligently to control the fire. Assistance was also provided by the city of Poway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported due to the incident. However, the fire resulted in temporary road disruptions in the surrounding area as firefighters conducted their operations.

As of now, the cause of the vehicle fire remains under investigation. Fire officials continue to monitor the area for any potential hazards.

Brush Fire Reported in Rancho Bernardo

In a separate incident, a brush fire broke out in Rancho Bernardo on Friday afternoon. This fire was reported around 2:35 p.m. and was located near the intersection of Camino del Norte and Bernardo Center Drive. The blaze posed a threat to an apartment building in the vicinity, though, fortunately, there were no reports of structural damage or injuries.

The Rancho Bernardo brush fire expanded to approximately nine acres before ultimately covering 12.5 acres before it was fully contained. Initial evacuation warnings were issued for the affected area, but by 5:30 p.m. the warnings were lifted as fire crews gained control. Multiple firefighting teams, including ground crews and aerial support, were deployed to combat the flames.

Road closures impacted traffic in the area stretching from Camino Del Norte to Dove Canyon Road and from Bernardo Center Road to Camino San Bernardo during the firefighting efforts. The safety of community residents was prioritized throughout the operation.

Firefighting Efforts and Community Safety

Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy expressed confidence in the firefighting teams and their ability to control the brush fire, notably since it occurred near the site of a previous fire in January. Such incidents highlight the ongoing fire threats faced by the region, further emphasizing the importance of preparedness and response efforts by the SDFD.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department remains engaged in continuous efforts to control and monitor fire threats throughout the area, especially given the critical fire conditions often present during this time of year. The community is advised to stay alert and report any unusual activity that may indicate fire hazards.

As firefighters work to ensure the safety of residents, both incidents serve as reminders of the importance of prompt emergency response and the need for vigilance in fire-prone areas. Residents are encouraged to remain informed and prepared in order to assist local emergency services when necessary.
