San Diego, California – Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a double homicide that took place near the U.S.-Mexico border over the Labor Day weekend. The incident, which occurred on August 30, resulted in the deaths of two men, Aaron Cruz, 42, and Richard Hartung, 64, who were residing in camping-style trailers at a storage facility.

Officers responding to reports of the incident found Cruz and Hartung deceased from multiple gunshot wounds within the trailers around 3:30 a.m. San Diego Police Department Lieutenant Lou Maggi confirmed the victims’ identities and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Following the discovery of the bodies, investigators utilized both city-owned and private security cameras to identify a potential suspect vehicle, described as a red Chevy Suburban. A thorough canvassing of the area yielded a similar vehicle, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old David Verduzco Kruglova on September 2 after police pulled over the SUV in San Ysidro. A few days later, a 16-year-old boy from Tijuana was also taken into custody.

The third suspect, 22-year-old Marco Ramos Ramirez, was apprehended about a week later at the same location as the teenage suspect. Authorities have recovered two assault rifles believed to have been used in the shootings; however, the specific motive behind the murders remains undisclosed. The relationships among the three suspects—Ramirez, Kruglova, and the minor—are also not clear at this time.

In an unrelated incident, 22-year-old Joseph Bojorquez Jr. was killed in Ocean Beach on September 10. The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Newport Avenue. Bojorquez sustained at least one fatal gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to the shooting, he was involved in a confrontation with two men in a parking lot.

Witnesses stated that Bojorquez punched one of the men, prompting the second man to pull out a handgun and shoot him. The shooter, along with his accomplice, fled the scene on foot toward Santa Monica Avenue. Police are currently investigating the reasons behind the confrontation and whether Bojorquez had any prior association with the assailants.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to either shooting incident to reach out to the San Diego Police Homicide Unit or contact Crime Stoppers. The community’s assistance could be crucial in resolving these investigations and bringing justice for the victims and their families.
