San Diego – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Carmel Mountain Ranch claimed one life and resulted in multiple injuries on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. on the southbound side of I-15, specifically in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, north of Camino Del Norte.
Authorities reported that a white Ram pickup truck was the first vehicle involved. For reasons still under investigation, the truck veered to the right, striking a grey Volvo and a green Lexus. Following this initial collision, the grey Volvo collided with a white Tesla. The driver of the grey Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, a passenger in that vehicle suffered major injuries.
Overall, eight individuals were transported to local hospitals, including two children, whose condition remains uncertain. The driver and passengers of the white Ram pickup truck reported injuries ranging from complaints of pain to minor injuries.
