News Summary

San Diego will soon welcome the Malibu Barbie Cafe and roller rink, a vibrant pop-up experience designed to celebrate the nostalgic vibes of 1970s Malibu. Opening on July 11, the cafe will merge dining and roller skating, featuring a menu crafted by a renowned chef. As a family-friendly attraction just in time for San Diego Comic-Con, the cafe will also contribute to local charities with a portion of rentals going to the American Red Cross. Tickets will be available through Bucket Listers, creating exciting experiences for visitors of all ages.

San Diego is set to welcome the vibrant Malibu Barbie Cafe and roller rink on July 11, 2025, adding a colorful attraction to the city ahead of the famed San Diego Comic-Con. The pop-up experience will be located at Bayside Kitchen and Bar, situated at 2137 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92101.

This unique offering merges dining with roller skating, serving as a collaborative effort between Bucket Listers and Mattel. The cafe is designed to evoke the groovy beachside vibes of 1970s Malibu, the era when the iconic Malibu Barbie was first introduced, bringing nostalgic flair to its decor and ambiance.

Following the viral success of its previous locations in cities such as New York, Chicago, Miami, Minneapolis, Austin, and Houston, this San Diego pop-up aims to replicate that enthusiasm and fun. Tickets for entry will be available at a price of $25 each, which includes food selections and merchandise credit. Furthermore, children under the age of two can enter for free, making it a family-friendly experience.

In a charitable effort, a $1 donation from each roller skate rental will go to the American Red Cross, supporting relief efforts for those affected by wildfires in California. This initiative adds a philanthropic aspect to the enjoyment offered at the cafe.

The culinary offerings at the Malibu Barbie Cafe will be crafted by Chef Becky Brown, a Master Chef finalist and Chopped Champion. The menu promises an array of all-day friendly fare, desserts, and signature drinks. Guests can expect to find burgers, vegetarian grilled cheese, vegan pancakes, and mini cupcakes creatively served in a Barbie boat format.

Beyond food and drinks, the cafe will host exclusive Barbie merchandise and engage visitors with interactive activities. Special events will be part of the offering, including cupcake decorating classes, paint parties, and dedicated 21+ skate nights, ensuring a wide variety of fun tailored to different audiences.

Tickets for this exciting pop-up experience will be available exclusively through Bucket Listers. Interested attendees can join a waitlist now for first access when tickets officially go on sale in June.

The cafe is expected to remain open for two to three months, and its grand opening aligns perfectly with the timing of San Diego Comic-Con, which will occur from July 24-27, 2025. The timing is strategically planned to enhance the playful atmosphere in San Diego during the bustling summer season.

For those eager to stay updated, the Malibu Barbie Cafe will share information and announcements through its official Instagram account, keeping fans informed as the opening date approaches.

This exciting new addition to San Diego’s summer attractions promises not only to deliver delicious food and fun roller skating but also to create memorable experiences for visitors of all ages while supporting a charitable cause. The Malibu Barbie Cafe stands as a testament to creativity and community spirit, setting the stage for a summer of exciting possibilities.
