Fans of Doctor Who can immerse themselves in the Whoniverse at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. The event will feature UNIT’s Black Archive, showcasing alien relics and offering a live mission experience. Highlights include encounters with iconic adversaries and an exclusive preview of the upcoming spinoff series. Attendees can also engage in cosplay activities, quizzes, and visit exhibitions dedicated to the legendary series.
San Diego – BBC Studios will immerse fans in the Doctor Who Whoniverse at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, running from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27. The event will be held at the Harbor Club in the Gaslamp District, located at 100 E Harbor Dr, providing an engaging platform to celebrate the iconic science fiction series.
Attendees will be granted the chance to enter UNIT’s Black Archive, a secretive vault featured in the special episode The Day of the Doctor. Participants will receive a Level 1 UNIT clearance badge to navigate through a collection of alien relics and advanced technology dating back over six decades of the Doctor Who franchise. This experience aims to bring fans closer to the universe they’ve cherished and followed for years.
Inside the Black Archive, visitors will encounter notorious adversaries from the series, including the Dalek mutant, Cybermen, and the enigmatic Silence. Additionally, the archive will showcase Easter eggs for the forthcoming spinoff series, The War Between the Land and the Sea, providing a preview of the franchise’s future.
The Black Archive experience will be operational from 10 AM to 8 PM on July 24-26, and from 10 AM to 5 PM on July 27. Each evening, visitors can take part in a live mission from 6 PM to 8 PM, collaborating to assist the Doctor in uncovering secrets across time and space. Participants who successfully complete this mission will receive a special, SDCC-exclusive reward.
This activation operates on a first come, first served basis, eliminating the need for reservations. Fans will also have a chance to take photos with the Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS as a keepsake of their experience. An onsite shop will feature exclusive, limited-run merchandise, offering apparel and collectibles inspired by the show and its characters.
For those unable to attend in person, a digital version of the Black Archive will be accessible via the Doctor Who website. In addition to this immersive experience, the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park will host the Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder – Where Science Meets Fiction exhibition. This exhibition will delve into the intersection of real-world science and the fantastical elements of Doctor Who while showcasing original props and costumes along with interviews from scientists and the creative team behind the series.
A highlight of the exhibition will be a world-exclusive presentation of all seventeen incarnations of the Doctor’s costumes, spanning from the First to the Fifteenth Doctor. This unique display represents the series’ rich legacy and continues to draw in fans of all ages.
On July 24, fans will also be able to participate in additional activities at Comic-Con. A Doctor Who cosplay meetup is scheduled from 2 PM to 2:15 PM at the Marriott Marquis, allowing fans to share their love for the show through creative costumes. Furthermore, a Doctor Who Quiz Night, hosted by Sandro Monetti, will occur from 7 PM to 9 PM, featuring trivia and exciting prizes.
