San Diego – The fictional heavy metal band Cold Slither, hailing from the popular animated series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, is set to perform live for the first time on July 24, 2025, at San Diego Comic-Con. The highly anticipated concert will take place at Brick by Brick, located at 1130 Buenos Ave, starting at 9 PM, with doors opening an hour earlier. This one-night-only event is presented by Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music.
Cold Slither, initially introduced in the 1985 episode “Cold Slither,” is recognized for its humor and the satirical commentary on heavy metal music prevalent during the 1980s. The band’s performances are characterized by music laden with subliminal messages, providing a lighthearted warning about the genre. This debut concert marks an important milestone for G.I. Joe fans and heavy metal enthusiasts alike.
The live performance will feature a lineup of seasoned metal veterans: Gus Rios will take the role of lead vocalist and bassist Zartan, while Ross Sewage will play guitar as Torch, Matt Harvey will also be on guitar as Ripper, and Andy Selway will showcase his drumming skills as Buzzer. Concertgoers can expect to hear both classic tracks from the original 1985 episode, including “Cold Slither,” and new songs such as “Thunder Machine” and “Master of Disguise.”
Tickets for this exclusive event are priced at $42.66 and are available only to guests aged 21 and older, with a total capacity limited to 450 attendees. In addition to the live music, limited-edition merchandise will be on offer, including exclusive t-shirts, posters, LPs, CDs, and collectible pin sets, available solely at the concert.
Following the performance, Cold Slither will release their debut album on July 25, 2025. This album will feature a total of 11 tracks, including a remastered version of the original “Cold Slither.” Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con will also have the opportunity to purchase exclusive vinyl variants of the album at the convention, with “Zartan Chameleon Blue” available at the Hasbro booth and “Blood Moon Red” at the Reigning Phoenix Music booth. In addition, limited-edition action figures of the Dreadnoks will be available for purchase at the event, adding to the collection for dedicated fans.
The complete track list for the debut album includes songs like “Welcome to the Swamp (Intro),” “Knock ‘Em Dread,” “Zartan’s Revenge,” “Snakes on the Bayou,” “Torched,” “Under the Dreadnok’s Spell,” “The Ballad of Buzzer,” and “These Fluffies Are Fatal.” The band has expressed their enthusiasm for both G.I. Joe fans and heavy metal enthusiasts, describing the album as a “sonic strike straight from Cobra Command.”
This announcement is a nostalgic reminder for many who grew up watching the series and remember the iconic impact that Cold Slither had on 1980s pop culture. With the combination of live music, exclusive merchandise, and the chance to engage with fellow fans, the upcoming performance at San Diego Comic-Con is poised to be a memorable event in the realms of G.I. Joe fandom and heavy metal music.
